Kool 105.5 FM and some local trainers help a bunch “losers” burn off almost 300lbs.

A little more than 10 weeks ago The Mo and Sally morning show on Kool 105.5 FM( http://loser.1055online.com/main.html ) launched a “Biggest Loser” contest for Palm Beach County. Ten local residents would compete for 10 weeks to see who could lose the most weight during that time. The winner would be crowned Palm Beach County’s Biggest Loser and would win a all expense paid cruise to the Caribbean.

The World Gym’s in Palm Beach County donated the facilities where these losers could workout and Director of Personal Training, Rafael Moret, donated the trainers. Each contestant would have unlimited access to the World Gym of their choice and a professional fitness trainer would meet with them at least once per week for the 10 week contest to develop their exercise programs and supervise the meal plans. Now even though the trainer all have different styles of training and meal planning, the basic principles were the same, no fad or crash diet can replace supportive eating and the right amount of resistance and cardiovascular training.

The contestant would have random weigh-ins during the contest and would be guest on The Mo and Sally morning show to go over their work out plans and all the changes in their lifestyle. The results were, after 10 weeks the contestants lost a combined 297lbs and made some very important lifestyle changes. Not only did they lose weight but they got into the habit of exercising and making better decisions about what they were eating. “The long term results of something like this still can not be measured.” says Rafael. “Adopting a healthier life style is not just something that helps you physically…it’s mentally stimulating and emotional empowering.” Quick fixes are good but going in to the gym and working with your fitness coach and watching your body transform every week is a lot more rewarding.
